Outside Artifact
Reflection:
My outside
artifact includes working with the Adapted Rec Program in Dayton, Ohio. During
this program I was in charge of helping students with multiple disabilities
perform extracurricular task. The most common physical disability I worked with
was Cerebral Palsy from moderate-severe. The students did sports including
basketball, rugby, bowling, capture the flag, and also participated in
intramurals every Wednesday night. Most of the students I worked with did not
have cognitive disabilities though I did come in contact with a few. This
opportunity helped me to understand different disabilities and helped me to
adapt my programs to help the students. A student could not have participated
in the sport without the adaptations made for them. I believe without this
opportunity I would not be going down the path I am on, Adapted Rec has helped
me have the passion I have today.
